St. Egidien

Lulu Obermayer and her brother Benjamin Röder are making a special artistic intervention in the Egidienkirche. Benjamin Röder is an artist and DJ and runs a club. A new room is being created in the church, where large club loudspeakers meet organ music. The church has a plain, white ceiling and stands on a slope near the castle. The music installation is called “Kantate”. It transforms the church into a place of power. Using simple stage elements, they create a kind of “ladder to heaven” and transform the space into a new experience.
Lulu Obermayer is a German artist who works in the fields of opera, theatre, performance, dramaturgy and dance. In her art, she combines historical events with theatre stories and gives a stage to both invented and real voices. In doing so, she asks questions: Who can act? Who is shown? She engages intensively with European culture and discovers new perspectives. Her works retell familiar stories and give a voice to those who are often not heard.
After Kantate, she is planning another project for 2025 about nuns and monastic life.
