- Maya Dunietz

A group of “Chilling Mammoths” have been traveling through art houses in Europe for some time. Now they are stopping off in Nuremberg for ten days - in an old yeast factory in the north of Nuremberg. The artist Maya Dunietz has created these special pianos: they can set themselves vibrating and make sounds. They sing a song of an infinite dance towards and away from each other, exploring their connections and differences with the square root of two as a musical and mathematical anchor. This installation inspired the collaboration between Dunietz and the musicians of the string ensemble Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop. The material being played live by the strings was born from the vibration of the mammoths. They will play with them and fill the old discotheque with sound.
Maya Dunietz is an artist, pianist and composer. She works internationally in various disciplines and techniques to explore a new sound.
Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop was founded in Berlin in 2006. It consists only of string instruments and explores new forms of music theater. The musicians often work together with artists from different fields. In recent years, they have been particularly interested in the combination of music and movement.
Note: The Chilling Mammoths will also be playing alone again on the second festival weekend.
You can also make music yourself: On 31 May, there will be a workshop with Boram Lie and Mia Bodet from the soloist ensemble Kaleidoskop. The workshop is from 10 am to 2 pm. Afterwards there will be a small performance from 3 to 4 pm.
Just bring your instrument or your voice. Everyone can take part – whether beginner or advanced!
