Beim BAST / Old Yeast Factory

A herd of Chilling Mammoths has been traveling through European art institutions for some time now, resting for the ten days of the festival in Nuremberg – in an old yeast factory in the north of nuremberg. The artist Maya Dunietz is responsible for these more than a dozen self-swinging and self-talking pianos. Together with her long-term collaborators, the all-string Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, in “Sound of Difference” they will enter into dialog for the first time and activate the site; the mammoths will encounter the humanly intended instruments – and vice versa.
Maya Dunietz is an artist, musician and composer. She works internationally in various disciplines and techniques to explore a new sound.
Founded in Berlin in 2006, the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop has dedicated itself to the development of new forms of experimental music theater since its inception. The members of the ensemble have developed into musical performers and co-authors of collaborative productions.

Please note: The Chilling Mammoths will also be playing solo on the second weekend of the festival. On 31 May, there will also be a workshop with Boram Lie and Mia Bodet from the Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop – from 10 am to 2 pm, with a public presentation from 3 pm. Bring your
instrument or voice – everyone is welcome!
